Day 7 of Things I Love: Brie

I have been on a serious Brie kick lately.  Nearly eating it with every single meal.  Probably not the best idea for my diet plan, but man it tastes good.  On second thought, I have really never met a cheese that I didn't like, but Brie seems to top the list. I love how it can be a delicious lunch on top of a baguette with jam, or a delicious after work appetizer with a bunch of grapes and your favorite Cabernet.  I try and keep a block of it in my fridge more times than not (unless of course, I have eaten it already.)

Here are a couple recipes that I would love to try soon!
Raspberry & Brie Flatbreads
Baked Brie
Brie Apple Melts. YUM.
I have to seriously refrain from posting anymore in an effort to curb my hunger.

Happy Tuesday!

Day 6 of Things I Love: Candles

My close friends and family are pretty well aware of my addiction attraction to a good candle.  There is never a moment in my home when I do not have a candle somewhere.  There is just something about the feeling I have when burning one. To me, they can make a house feel more like a "home." Here is what I am currently burning....
Lovely addition thanks to my sweet friend Jordan! The aroma is out of this world, not to mention the darling packaging! Highly recommend!

Here are a couple all-time favourites of mine...

This adorable piece is by Capri Blu. My favorite scent is Volcano. Not only does it make a gorgeous candle, but when the candle is done, I pop the glass into the freezer to get out the excess old candle and reuse the mercury glass as a flower vase! Now that's multipurpose.

By far my favorite Lollia scent. Most people may know them for their perfumes and body care products, but their candles are out of this world and worth every penny. While they are a bit expensive, they create a smell that is out of this world.  What I love most about the set is that you can burn them separately for two separate scents or you can burn them together to create a unique third scent.
This candle is the epitome of all things Southern.  The refreshing mix of Jasmine and Hyacinth will transform you into a world all its own. You can close your eyes and pretend you are rocking on a 100 year porch sipping an ice cold lemonade on a hot summer day. Hey, that thought is a shining beacon of light on a freezing DC day.

A favorite indulgence of mine.  Loved being able to pick them up at a boutique in Raleigh, I will now need to find a DC shop that carries them! Great gift idea too!

What candles can you not live without? I am always looking to add to my collection!

Day 5 of Things I Love: Good Coffee

My mornings just do not seem complete without a cup of coffee. I have become one of those neurotic dependent "not until I have my coffee" kind of gals. But whatever keeps you going right? My latest coffee obsession has been at Le Pain Quotidien. It has the best flavor and has enough "oomph" to get me well into lunchtime. I especially love the "My K Cup" addition to my Keurig. It is wonderful in the sense that if there is a cup of coffee that I really love, I can buy the grounds from the restaurant and make it over and over again at home. How did people function without a Keurig anyway?

I certainly could enjoy my morning java at this adorable Parisian Cafe.

Happy Sunday!

Day 4 of Things I Love: Fresh Flowers

In my opinion, not much brightens a space like fresh flowers. Whether its indoors or out, fresh flowers always add a simple touch that seems to complete the feeling of "something is missing." I absolutely love nothing more than having a bouquet of fresh flowers somewhere in our home at all times.

Currently in our home...

Love these fresh looks for Spring...

Milk glass is an all time favorite of mine. I am starting to pick up pieces of it whenever I can find it in hopes to have a large enough collection to incorporate it into our table settings for the wedding.

Happy Saturday!

Day 3 of things I love: Champagne

What gal doesn't love champagne? We drank champagne on my 21st birthday, when I finished up my college career, various trips we have taken, the day Austin proposed to me, at our engagement party, when Austin got his new job in DC, and we plan to pop a bottle tonight to celebrate my new career endeavor. I always like to have a bottle or so in my fridge on reserve.  What's not to love about it? Okay, well maybe the headache involved the next day..but its worth it right?

After Austin proposed!
During a ski trip
Engagement party with a few of my bridesmaids

 Currently in our fridge...

Happy Weekend!

Day 2 of Things I Love: Cashmere

Cashmere. Who doesn't love it? Thanks to the groundhog, it looks like we have another 6 weeks of winter left.  I do not doubt that winter will peek its little head before its all said and done. Not that I do not absolutely love the mild winter, but I do love wrapping myself in my cashmere throw from Restoration Hardware. Worth. Every. Penny. Autumn Cashmere is an incredible source for all things cashmere and comfy. Perfect weekend gear!
I'd love to add the dark gray to my collection as well ;-)

Perfect if you're a lazy Sunday person like myself ;-)

29 Days of Things I Love

Since February is celebrated as the month of love, I have been seeing these posts about things people love and figured "why not." I have to say that most importantly, I love my life.  I sometimes tend to forget how lucky I truly am to have the things around me. This transition to a new city and new life has been trying on both Austin and I, but we are finally starting to get into our groove in DC.  Austin is getting more settled with his job each day and I accepted a position today as well (three cheers for that!) Things are slowly but surely starting to settle down and I could not be any more content with where I am at this very moment.  It just feels right.

For the first time in what seems like a long time, I finally feel like I am on the right track (is there even such thing as the "right track??) and doing what I am meant to be doing with my life. I feel like taking the leap of faith we did to move out into a big city has done nothing but improve my well-being as an individual and in my relationship with Austin. I remember to count my blessings to have found such a loving, committed man that can see me through every high and low I have in life.

What do you love most?

Katie
