stocking stuffers: mens edition

If you're anything like me, the stocking is one of your favorite parts about Christmas morning. They were always so big in my family and is such a fun tradition to carry on with my husband. Sometimes, though, stocking stuffers for men can be so tough! Here are my picks that are sure to please! Well, at least hopefully Austin ;-)

1. These collegiate hats from Smathers & Branson are a great option for any college football lover. I love the needlepoint detail.
2. This phone case from Pottery Barn is unfortunately now unavailable, but they do have some other great options!
3. What guy doesnt love more pocket squares? These from  Brooks Brothers  come in various colors and patterns that will be great for Spring!
4. Because what guy doesnt love pampering? J. Crew never fails and I'm a sucker for good packaging.
5. Austin's a big LL Bean boots guy. These are perfect for the guy who likes to be outdoors and keep warm!
6. I am such a sucker for this scent. You know how scents take you back to a certain place in time? This cologne reminds me of when we first started dating and is truly one of the best scents I have ever smelled on a man, plus its Chanel ;-)
7. We are taking a trip to Florida after Christmas and what guy doesn't like a good set of shaving essentials? I bought the monogrammed razor from Harry's last Valentines Day and its still a favorite of his!

Also, most of these items above you can get cash back through Ebates! Don't forget! Use this link to sign up if you haven't already. You wont regret it ;-)

3 days, people!

{before & after}

It has been a busy week in our little bungalow! I  wanted to share a couple of projects with you guys that we wrapped up this week and I couldn't be more excited about them!

First, Santa brought us plantation shutters! I am so thrilled! I knew I wanted them the second we bought this little house and now they are finally in. I previously had a canvas drape that I liked, but I am really working on sprucing our space to be bright and airy and fresh. I love the way they turned out.

Next up, we demoed our entry way. You can sort of see it from the picture above, but I really wanted to dress up the space. It was "ok" when we moved in, but didn't really have that entry way feel about it.

Here is the only picture I can find of the before:

The chandelier and mirror are from Ballard Designs and the frame is from Pottery Barn. The frame came with a much more ivory mat than was shown in the picture, so I ordered a bright white mat to match with the white accents better.

Here is during. Kudos to you that have done full house reno's, I think I was sweeping every chance I got to keep dust to a minimum. Ok, maybe I'm a neat freak.

And finally, here is the after. It is amazing what 24 hours can do! All new trim and added crown molding at the ceiling. I love the way it turned out.

My next debate is wallpaper. I fell in love with a sample of Thibaut Grasscloth, but I've heard it can really be a pain to dust. Have any of you dealt with that?

Happy Saturday!

{tis the season}

How is everyone coming on their holiday shopping? I started early this year, for whatever reason I panic thinking I just won't have enough time. I can thankfully say there are about 3 people left on my list and then I am DONE! The hardest part for me is when people ask for MY wishlist! This has been such a blessed year with our new home, new jobs and everything in between and I truly feel that I have all I could ever wish for. So much to be thankful for this year. However, if there were a few things I would wish for under the tree this year, it would probably be these :)

I live in my Plum Pretty Sugar robe and I love this new print of PJ's!

I first got this as a sample with my Sephora order. Immediately fell in love. Its light and fresh but warm and perfect for winter if that makes sense at all ;-) Great perfume!
These Stuart Weitzman babies are worth every last penny. They are a bit steep in price, but everyone I know that has a pair says you will truly have them forever! Worth it in my book!
How gorgeous is this candle?! I am such a sucker for little luxuries and this one entirely fits the bill. Plus, the scent is incredible.

Whats on your wishlist?

Sephora VIB Sale

I do live! Shocking, I know. As I'm sure you are aware, there are only a few hours left in the Sephora 20% off sale. I use this sale to stock up on my essentials at a super price. Be sure and sign up to be a VIB and use code GIFTVIB to receive your discount.

I first received this serum as a sample  as a VIB Rouge member. I used it for a week and knew I had to get the full size. It evens, balances and tones unlike any other product I have used (and lets be honest, that is saying a lot) Its marked down to $52 with the sale and I picked up the cleanser as well!

I was one to never really spend much on mascara, mascara is mascara right? Wrong. So long, Maybelline Great Lash I found a new best friend. This stuff is awesome, and with the discount is really reasonable! I am officially a convert!

I also received this product as a deluxe sample and fell in love (they get me everytime) This is such a great starter before you put on your makeup. It is silky smooth and gives you a really even baseline before you apply your foundation or concealer. Highly recommended!

I also picked up this mask after reading awesome reviews about it on various blogs and websites. Its so refreshing and I think masks are such an important part of your weekly routine in-between facials. I have only tried this once so far, but so far I think it is a great add to the cabinet!

I also stocked up on many shades of Moxie glosses from Bare Minerals (an all time favorite) and a few other staples. But hurry, this sale is only on for a few more hours!

Happy Monday,

{labor day sales}

With the long weekend on the horizon, here comes the onslaught of sale emails. I recently unsubscribed myself from many in an effort to "simplify" but kept my favorites. I shopped them this morning and wanted to share!

Lulu & Georgia is offering 25% off purchases with code LABORDAY 25. I picked up this little cutie to go in our living room. I call it a "self portrait" for our live Fiddle Leaf.

Shop it here.

Ya'll, I swear Amazon is the spot for frames. I picked up a thin gold frame for the above print on Amazon for $16 total. Shop here.

Furbish is also offering 15% off everything and it was the perfect time for me to pick up an engagement gift for a friend. Use code ENDOFSUMMER

Ann Taylor LOFT, they are really stepping up their game for Fall. Super cute pieces! The best part? It is ALL 50% off and no code required! I have so many cute pieces in my cart, its tough to decide!

Enjoy the long weekend, you deserve it!

{weekend project}

This past weekend I took on a project that I had no idea would take so freaking long that was a serious labor of love. When we moved into our new house, I was never much of a fan of the teal whateveryouwanttocallit color. Not. a. fan. I struggled back and forth with which color to choose, and even mentioned the aqua color I had "decided" on on the blog last week. Well, I changed my mind  yet again. Who knew you could be so indecisive when owning a home? ;-) My husband was really a fan of a red front door and I was one that always told myself I wanted one "someday". Well, we finally decided on "Classic Red" by Valspar and I love the way it turned out. I think it'll go great when its Christmas decorating time and really makes the porch pop!

{lately}

Ya'll, I don't even know where to begin. I've clearly been MIA, but I promise for good reason. We closed on our first home last week!! It's been such a whirlwind, but I couldn't love this little bungalow anymore. We began moving last weekend and it really is true you don't know how much crap you have until you move. Real life. Anyhoo, our evenings have been complete with obsessively doing yardwork, arranging furniture and planning our next furniture purchase. Exhausting, folks. But, more rewarding than I could ever imagine! Being a homeowner is all sorts of exciting.

A little background on our home. If any of you are familiar, it is a "Sears Kit Home" which was built in 1930 (we still have the clawfoot tub! Uhhhbsessed). Which basically back in the day were homes that arrived in literal kits on a train car. And cost about what a mortgage payment now costs -- for the entire home! The plan's name was "Winona" so our house still lives by that name :) Here are some photos of  Winona so far!

This is one of my  favorite features in the home. It is an original wood cabinet in the dining room.  It's still a work in progress, but here is a little snippet of the first items to go in!

We have some of the sweetest friends, ya'll. These guys sacrificed their entire weekend to help us Smith's move into our first home. So thankful. Of course, Bailey had to get in on the action too ;-)

One of my first projects (this weekend) is to paint our front door a new shade. I think it will really brighten up our porch and give the facade a much needed face lift contrasting against the gray. I ended up choosing the top color which is "big sky view" by Valspar. I hope it gives our place a fun, coastal, cottage feel!

My inspiration for our living room was the below photo:

Here is a picture of our living room so far! It's coming together, just searching for the perfect new throw pillows to tie everything together.

I will keep ya'll posted with updates as they come! :)

{weekend recap}

After the crazy that was last week, it was great to have 4 long days down on the coast. Much needed. We spend time with friends and family out on the boat for the 4th and over-enjoyed in delicious summer food all.weekend.long. It's what holidays are for right?

Saturday I finally found (Fiona, yes I named her - The Fiddle Leaf fig). Fiona is the perfect addition to our space and something I have been on the hunt for awhile now. She looks perfectly at home in her new basket. Yes, I have entirely lost my mind referring to a tree as if it's a child. Here she is on my mom's porch ready to make her way home.

My mom and I also put our crafting pants and completed a DIY project. I have to give her the credit here, my nerves are about shot after hour 2 of sanding. Way to go, mom. Picked up this pair of ratted out directors chairs for $5! But the bones were great, and I loved the bamboo detailing. Here is the before:
  And Viola: The after! (ignore the background - ABC studios are moving into my parents house this week and they are moving out!)

Not too shabby, right? Looking forward to finding the perfect little spot for them.

Happy Tuesday,

2 Bedroom Beach Cottage Makeover

 via domino

I assume you all are quite familiar with the fantastic articles Domino releases. If you dont have the magazine already, I highly suggest the subscription. This one really hit home with me. It's no secret my most favorite type of home is a tiny one packed with charm. Something about being able to focus on every single square inch is something I absolutely love. New homes are wonderful, but something a 1930's bungalow really tugs at my heart strings. But, more on 2 bedroom bungalows later ;-)

Recently, Domino released an article of a 2 bedroom beach bungalow makeover that I loved so much I had to share. I can't get over how perfectly executed this space is. Its is so in tune with the style of homes I am loving right now. Bright and coastal with pops of unexpected color. The kitchen ceiling is seriously to die for.

We are beach bound for the 4th! Hoping for more vintage hunting and inspiration for exciting announcements to come ;-)

{the summer of weddings}

It's become of no surprise to our friends when we say our weekend plans involve a friends wedding. It's been so much fun to celebrate with sweet friends as they begin their new married lives together. Tomorrow marks our fifth and final wedding of the season down here at Wrightsville.

Let's start from the top shall we? Hang in there, this post will be a doozie.

On May 3rd, our sweet friends Will & Julia tied the knot. The weather was absolutely perfect for their beautiful beachfront wedding.

Mr. and Mrs. Landen!

 Next up, we attended my adorable big sister in my sorority and her sweet hubby's Raleigh wedding. They are honestly the type of couple to make your heart sing. So much love between the two of them. Oh, and when I say it is one of the most gorgeous weddings I've ever seen, I mean that whole heartedly. It was beyond stunning.

Without further adieu..

 Two weeks later, my sweet college bestie tied the knot. From the bridal luncheon to the reception exit, it was flawlessly executed and simply gorgeous. Love my sweet Hannah & Tyler.

I re-wore the dress I wore to our first wedding weekend and have found it fits for so many different occassions. Anthropologie has been on point lately.

Beautiful rehearsal dinner setting

I mean, gorgeous right?!

Last weekend, we got to attend sweet Stephanie & Scott's wedding. The florals were simply stunning, ya'll.

Tonight, we have our final rehearsal dinner and wedding tomorrow. Be sure and follow along on Instagram for pictures :)
