weekend

This weekend was quite the eventful one! Friends had babies, got puppies and surprise parties were thrown! Whew, Monday you came too fast.

Saturday morning we woke up bright and early to head to the hospital. Close friends of ours welcomed their precious baby boy on Friday evening and meeting that sweet little baby was the highlight of my weekend. Little Liam, you are already so very loved!

Saturday evening I helped a friend plan a surprise 30th birthday for her husband. It was a success! He was surprised and we all had a great time.

Sunday was absolutely gorgeous. 80 degree perfection. We spent most of the day outside with friends..and of course puppies. Can you even believe this face?

And of course we can't forget the OG (original golden) who had quite the day accompanying us to outdoor bars and restaurants all day.

sunglasses (similar), top (similar), jeans, sandals
Despite the warm weather this week, I know the colder temps are on the way...that said, I took full advantage of the outerwear sale going through today at J. Crew
I got this coat for over $100 off and think it'll get a ton of wear this fall and winter!
Its a busy week ahead as we prep for Nashville at the end of this week to celebrate the Mr's 31st birthday! Any must see/do/eat/drink spots?

hurry! shopbop sale pics

Just as quickly as it came, its nearly gone again! I picked up a few items during the sale that were just too good of deals to pass up! Here are my top picks!

I may be biased, but I may never wear any other pair of jeans other than FRAME. These are the perfect, classic cut that I love. Yes please.

Now is the time to get those investment pieces! I cannot wait to wear my leather jacket this season. Dressed up or down, it's the perfect go-to.
If you haven't already, now is the time to stock up on LAFCO candles. This one is wonderful! I  found this the perfect time to stock up for upcoming gifts (and for us!) The Ski House came with me too, its perfect for upcoming cold nights!

Love this!

These booties will get so much wear! I have a similar taupe pair that I wear nearly 5 days a week! Plus, they are just at $100!

Hurry, ends tonight at midnight!

best fall booties (under $150!)

Today, I've rounded up some of my favorite pairs of (affordable!) booties.

These booties come in under $100 and are the perfect versatile option. I envision them being able to be dressed up or down, and I love the color!

I've had my eye on these the past couple of weeks. They are the perfect wear now and later option. The reviews mention that they are super comfortable and I see them paired perfectly with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans. These babies are also under $100.

Ugg has the most comfortable shoes, and these booties look no different! I love the shorter option with skinny jeans and a button down for weekend errands. These are currently marked down and $30 off!

I had the hardest time finding a black pair that I loved last year. I wish I had seen these! The best part about a stacked heel is that even though they are a bit high, they are always super comfortable.

Okay, so these are a smidge over budget, but only by a few! They were just too cute not to mention. I adore the buckle detail.

Jack Rogers have been in my wardrobe for over a decade. Their booties are too cute and for the price and Jack Rogers quality, they are the perfect Fall wardrobe staple!

fall beauty must haves

I switch up my beauty products when I transition from Summer to Fall. I typically have the complete opposite from dry skin, but with the cooler temps as I get older, I'm finding that is not as much the case anymore! And not just my skin, also my hair. Here are some items that are tried and true that I just can't live without!

I have actually been using this hair product a fair amount the past few weeks, well before Fall. My last hair appointment I was running between appointments and had to be put under heat for the first time in years. Big. Mistake. Pretty much most everyone who color treats their hair knows that heat processing is a no-no. Well, this gold lust oil by Oribe has saved my hair from my poor decision making. I comb it through damp hair (especially focusing on my fly away areas and ends) and its literally magic in a bottle!

I've switched between this moisturizer and the La Mer Moisturizer and still find this Chanel product fairs better on my skin. As previously mentioned, I struggle with combination skin as well as highly sensitive skin. Literally, any and everything can break me out. I joke that sometimes even looking at a product will break me out. I tried this product as a sample and it was a success! Not to mention, some reviews say it acts as a true face lift over time! Check. The. Box.

Let me be honest, this lip moisturizer is in my bag regardless of the season. It is the best quick fix for dry lips and provides a little burst of color. I have a couple of different varieties and they are all wonderful!

A girlfriend recommended this shampoo and conditioner duo and its the perfect match to the Oribe hair oil. It helps lock in moisture and keep my ends happy despite heat drying everything out!

This bronzer is the perfect option for extending that summer glow without that orange look we are all familiar with. It is subtle, but packs a punch and a couple quick swipes and you're ready to head out the door!

life lately

...and just like that, it's September. This summer was a complete blur and this blog is proof of it. Totally MIA, folks. Gonna work on that. With the onset of September, I've unpacked scarves, lit my favorite fall candle of all time (more on that in a moment) and started to stock my fall wardrobe. Here are a few things I've selected to kick off the best season of all, Fall.

I first got a whiff of this baby at Anthropologie a month or so ago and had to have it. The store was sold out at the time, but I was able to scoop it up online! Despite the colors of the glass, its actually pumpkin clove scent. If you buy one Fall candle this season, let it be this one! Not. Kidding.

These booties are not only ones that will literally match anything in your closet -- from skinny jeans to dresses, but they are also wildly comfortable. The price is a little steep, but for the amount of wear you'll get, it makes it justifiable!

I also picked these booties up for a more casual option. They are under $100 and will be the perfect throw on all season long. Are you sensing a theme with my attraction to taupe booties? Well, that sounded weird...

So, let me just preface by saying I really deliberated over this item. Real fur to me has always been such a firm "no" in my mind, but for the past three seasons or so, I've really really been drawn to this style vest.  I finally took the plunge and must say its so wonderful on. Its super lightweight and will be perfect for layering, not just this Fall, but many, many, many Fall seasons to come.

I am a complete convert to FRAME Jeans. I first bought a pair a couple of seasons ago and have never looked back. I love the casual twist on these black jeans with the distressed detail.

The jacket I'm linking here is a very similar version of the leather moto jacket I picked up at a local Raleigh boutique. It was hugely out of my comfort zone but I actually really liked it on! Its super soft and just like the vest, will get a lot of wear for many, many seasons to come!

I picked this up in a few colors! Its incredibly flattering and priced under $30! Its the perfect throw on top with jeans or with leggings. I love anything with that much versatility and the price was a done deal!

Any pieces you've found that are your Fall go to's? I'll do another post this week on my Fall beauty favorites!

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale Picks

The Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is on now, and its good. Like, real good. I'm such a sucker for the Anniversary sale in July, but this is another amazing opportunity to get this season items at amazing prices!

Can you ever have too many soft chambray tops? Nope. And at under $30, its a no brainer!

This girl loves a good coffee table book. This one is half off and perfect for any coastal decor

This candle smells AMAZING. And makes the perfect small gift for a friend, or for yourself!

The perfect running shoe. They are super light weight and perfect for Summer workouts!

I love Zella and these workout tops are a steal at under $16!

While we're on the workout topic, how cute are these?

There are so many awesome deals, but don't wait because the sale ends June 5!

loving lately

We had the most amazing weather this past weekend. We can file 70 degrees in February under things that I do not hate. The weather had us fully wrapped into all things yard work and the (continued) effort on Spring cleaning...which means I have my eyes on all things Spring clothes. Below are some pieces I'm loving and will be heavy in my Spring/Summer rotation.

I am so excited for this bikini. I'm such a sucker for gingham and couldn't resist.

With any swim purchase comes a coverup. Am I right? This eyelet is adorable and looks way nicer than the actual price tag. Today only use code SNACKS for extra 30% off and free shipping!

While we're on coverups, I am obsessed with this one. The quality for the price is great and its a breezy, gauzy material that goes great over your swimsuit. If only I'd found this prior to our Mexico trip!

I got this in navy last year and wore it so much I picked up a white version for this year. It's the perfect transition dress for Spring to Summer. It pairs perfectly with a denim jacket and breezy afternoons out on the boat.

These will be the perfect go-to summer sandal. Warning: order two full sizes up. I'm typically a 9 and went all the way for a 10 based on reviews. I have NEVER taken a 10 in my life, but when they arrived I was glad I did! I sized them up to my other size 9 sandals and they were the exact size I needed.

Enter white jeans best friend. This top is perfect for work and play. I get the feeling I should probably look into other colors as well!

This coverup is also back this year, in a variety of colors and under $40! I picked it up in black and white last year for our anniversary trip and LOVED it. Get it while its in stock!

new things

We've been hunkered down all weekend with Winter weather, which has given me plenty of time on my hands to get some much needed organizing and arranging done around here. Nothing like a good ice storm to really get you in the spirit for your trip to Mexico later this week (Thanks Jonas!)..I digress.

I've added a few new pieces to our home that has really gotten me in the spirit for Spring and Summer. When describing my home style, I like to blend textures and a variety of new and antiqued pieces. If I had to name it, I would say something along the lines of "collected coastal" would best describe me. A bit boho, a bit traditional, and there's bound to be a palm in every room.

It's true I typically choose books based on their covers...but recently, I've loved whats beneath the cover much more than the cover themselves. I love the raw look of both my Kinfolk Table and Island Hotel Stories books with their neutral linen look.

I scored this basket for a whopping $10 at the Furbish Flea and love how it holds all of our throws. This Anthropologie throw has been in heavy rotation with the chilly temps and I'm always a sucker for anything with pom-poms.

I got these adorable napkins as a birthday gift from a sweet friend and they are one of my favorite pieces on our bar. Golden retrievers and wine, whats not to love?

..And just because she's cute.

Follow along for more home adventures here.

Happy Sunday!

on my radar

  • Labratory Perfume -- I first came across this during an Anthro shopping trip and instantly fell in love with the scent "Gorse". It is so clean and refreshing but isn't completely gone by 11am. I am also a sucker for the perfect packaging.

  • Target Marble Candle Holders -- When is Target not on point?! But lately, its like..extra good. These candle holders are incredible quality for the price. I love the clean lines.
  • The Horse Watch -- My mom gave me this watch for Christmas and I. LOVE. it. Seriously, its so versatile! Winter, Summer, Dressy, Casual, its everything. And I love it.
  • Lasagna Soup Recipe -- During the winter months I use my Le Creuset Dutch Oven at least 3x a week. I absolutely LOVE one pot recipes. Hello, easy clean up. This recipe is by far a favorite to date. Its so incredibly easy, lasts for days and tastes incredible!
  • African juju hat -- They are everywhere, trendy I know. But I LOVE them. I really want this African Juju above our bed, but wonder how the "dusting" aspect goes down. Anyone bought one and noticed any serious dust collection? #randomthoughts
