{weekly roundup}

Ya'll. It has been cold. Like can't even move cold. I've lived in North Carolina practically my entire life and have never quite felt negative temps like my phone is currently showing. No time for that. None. I catch myself daydreaming of white denim and breezy blazers...soon enough I suppose. Here's what I loved this week!

I have become more and more drawn to clean simplistic designs. These do not disappoint. Less is more, people.

This eyeshadow rules. It has been on full rotation and stays put all day long. A keeper.

It may be freezing out...but how stinking cute are these shorts? The entire shop is adorable.

How neat would an Easter table setting be with this table runner and Easter egg place cards? Spring brain...

If you're interested, I added some more pieces to my insta-sale. Working to do more...as I said, the cold has been less than motivating.

We have this candle in our living room...and it definitely does not suck.

Happy Weekending!

outfit obsession: jumpsuits

I'll be the first to admit, the jumpsuit trend was a little scary to me, I love trying new trends but it took me awhile to finally take the plunge. And ya'll, now I may be addicted.

I bought my first one on super sale from Ann Taylor Loft (seen here) and while it is now unavailable, there are some other styles out right now I really loved that I want to share! It was such a great date night option!

Pardon the incredibly amateur photos. I had planned to take a few pictures outside to show the incredible lace back, but lets just say that lately the temps here have been less than ideal. You get the idea.

Told you, these photos are certainly not professional (notice the hound in the background? she approved)

I loved the lace detail on the sleeves. The back was a keyhole which I love. I also picked up the necklace I am wearing with it at the same time. It dressed it up, which I liked. Ya'll, not kidding when I say it was the most comfortable outfit I have probably worn to date!

 I picked mostly black ones that resembled the one like I wore, and of course had to throw in a fun one for good measure. Who doesn't love Mara Hoffman?

blue apron review

Last week we cooked one of our first dishes by Blue Apron. I may be seriously behind the times, but this is such an incredible concept, especially for the working gal like myself. Everything is delivered to your door (all portions measured) and ready to go! Just follow the easy steps :)

We first made the pan roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and maple glazed carrots. It surely did not disappoint.

Portions broken out by recipe!

This little one pager was  so helpful! It gave me an image with each step to make sure I was doing it correctly!

Voila!  I really enjoyed our first experience with Blue Apron . They are also offering all first-timers two free meals! Can't really beat that. I will give a disclaimer that you do dirty up a lot of dishes in the making of your dishes. A lot of the pans you reuse on multiple steps, which saved some handwashing, but prepare for a full dishwasher at the end!

Time to go hibernate before the snow and ice arrives. Stay warm out there :)

{weekly roundup}

(image via in honor of my big fiddle leaf coming back to life! 9 new leaves in 3 weeks people! -- we will celebrate later)

Happy Friday, friends! My favorite day of the week. This weekend is sure to be jam packed with a lot of activities --beginning this evening with a bottle of pinot and two tickets to 50 Shades of Grey (sorry hubby) and ending with a couples massage at The Umstead (see Dear, I redeemed myself)  Lets get down to it.

How perfect are the details of this bar? I would definitely accept a cocktail from here!

Made these treats for my work peeps to celebrate V-Day. Strawberries? Chocolate? Yes Please!

Winter weather is to be in full-force here this weekend. Love Lo's picks on her favorite winter products. She's pretty much the cutest and I can't wait to try the Boscia Black Mask

I got this Chanel lipstick in shade "Etourdie" and it has not come off my lips since. Super moisturizing and great color, all a gal needs.

Love this. Owning a home really is a true test of patience. I am the first to admit I love instant gratification. That said, its really tough to not tackle all projects at once at our little cottage. I am really learning to let the pieces come to me, and find more unique vintage pieces that tell a story. Don't get me wrong Homegoods and Joss & Main are fantastic resources, I am just trying not to overload on them and focus more on whatspeakstome if you will. Enter beyond perfect vintage turkish rugs. Yep, I need all of them.

happy weekending!

{evening skin care routine}

Skin care is so important and especially important as we get older. I have combination skin that is also sensitive, so I switch up my routine a couple days a week. Throughout the day, my skin produces enough oil, however, at night and especially during the winter months my skin can get really dry and extra sensitive.

Each night, I use Clinique liquid facial soap to remove my makeup. It's been a go-to for years and does a nice job on makeup removal. On days I'm not wearing makeup, I use Cetaphil. I find Cetaphil nourishes deeper rather than sloughs off my makeup. From there, I rotate exfoliating either with my Clarisonic or exfoliant products. I just started using the No 7 microdermabrasion exfoliant and am loving it so far. A little bit goes a long way though, and I've been keeping to only twice a week.

Once a week, I also like to use the Tata Harper resurfacing mask for smoothing and revitalizing the skin. It glides on as a jelly and dries clear if you're like me and get distracted wearing a face mask ;-) I mentioned it on here a week or so ago, and am really noticing a difference in pore size and overall skin texture.

Lastly, I moisturize with probably the most basic moisturizer ever (my husband and I share!) but it seriously works. It's thick enough without feeling clogging and has great lasting power. Can't beat the price either compared to all of its competitors out there these days. You can find it, here!

I also always keep l'occitane relaxing cream and their classic hand cream by my bedside. It's a must for me, great for keeping your hands and chest silky smooth!

{valentines gift picks}

Valentines Day is certainly not a huge deal in our house, but its a fun day to "show the love." And let's be honest, if I happened to receive any of these goodies, I wouldn't be mad.

1.I love my plum pretty sugar robe and wouldn't hate adding this set to my collection
2. Who doesn't need more Jo Malone? Always.
3.This is a favorite candle of mine. It's one of those candles where you can smell it even when its not lit. And at a better price on Amazon!
4. Geode is everywhere, no denying it. As much as I love layering, I would love to layer this long necklace with my other gold pieces!
5. I could find a reason daily to drink Veuve. It really is my most favorite taste. And how cute would it be to drink it out of these stemless flutes?!
