{weekend}

Happy Monday! I find Monday's tend to be happier when its pushing 70 degrees outside. I am so thankful for the 10 day forecast ahead of me. I'm so glad to finally see you, Spring! This weekend was fast and slow all at the same time, does that even make sense?

Friday night I got together with a few girlfriends to enjoy some wine and do a little shopping. I'm pretty excited about my spring purchases and getting to wear them in this warmer weather. It was followed by coming home to my favorite champagne with my hubby. He's a keeper right?

The remainder of the weekend was relatively low key with a yummy meal at my favorite, Coquette and much needed relaxing.

Do your dogs do this? Bailey actually smells the fresh flowers I bring into the house. Hilarious.

I treated myself to a mani/pedi on Saturday and have to say this is my new favorite color for Spring. It is Essie "Romper Room" and I am absolutely loving it. I know I've mentioned this on the ole blog before, but Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede is amazing. Especially for Spring. So fresh and so clean (clean!).

Major waffle binge as of lately...oops?

That's all I've got for our weekend. Low key weekends are the best right? Trying to enjoy them before wedding season begins...

{weekly roundup}

notetosarah:

Enter Mack’s giveaway!
Whew. What a week it has been...it flew by in my opinion but was just stacked full. Pretty excited to see the weekend soon! Here are my links for the week!
Have a great weekend!

1} I'm quite guilty of putting others needs before my own. I't's definitely not a bad thing, however I'm trying to make a commitment to myself to learn to put myself first more. I loved this quote for that.

2} This recipe looks amazing. I'm guilty of stashing my desk drawer with snack bars in a time crunch, but they can get pricey after awhile! I think I'll try this.

3} I am all about switching up and trying a new beauty routine. For that reason, I end up with boo koo's of samples, all over the damn place. This one I actually tried and became instantly addicted. Don't let the consistency fool you, this Too Faced primer glides on sheer and light and blends in a moments notice. And holds in place all day! A win in my book. Plus, it works wonders with my sensitive skin, they have a regular version, too!

4} Loved this article by the Everygirl. I think everyone's definition of "luxury" is quite different. However, I love how this article speaks of luxury as enjoyment of the best in life and letting it inspire us. Less about the more materialistic things, and more about the life experiences we have. In my eyes, my favorite luxury is a quiet night in with my husband, an incredible candle with my favorite wine and chatting about our week.

5} Yes, blue and white is every-friggin-where. It's always been a favorite crisp color combo of mine and I love incorporating it into our home AND my wardrobe. So clearly, I need this J. Crew top.

lemon water

I recently read a fantastic article on the zillions of health benefits that comes with drinking a significant amount of lemon in your water. I bought a bag of lemons last week and have been squeezing one half lemon in each glass I drink during the day. At first, I thought it would have been too strong to drink, but it actually is an incredibly refreshing twist to regular water. I typically order water from restaurants with a lemon wedge, however to get the full benefits this is the breakdown of portions:
-If you are 150 pounds or less, use one half of a medium size lemon in your regular sized water glass. If you are over 150 pounds, it is recommended to use an entire lemon per serving.

So what may you ask are the main health benefits of doing this?

1} It gives your immune system a much needed boost!
Citrus is obviously jam packed with Vitamin C and when you are stressed is actually the first vitamin in your body to drop! During your extra stressful days, amp up your lemon water intake to reduce that drop.

2} It aids in digestion
Lemon water helps loosen the toxins in your digestive tract and helps relieve common issues such as heartburn and bloat. It also helps overall de-toxify by stimulating your liver and after just a week or so, I could honestly feel my jeans a little looser! Bye bye bloat.

3} Say Bye Bye to breakouts
Lemon water is jam packed with antioxidants that help banish blemishes, wrinkles too! You can also put it on age spots and scaring to help minimize their appearance...sounds like the least expensive beauty regimen ever!

4} Gives you added energy!
Once lemon water enters your digestive tract is supplies your body with more energy as well as helping to reduce anxiety and depression.

These are just a few of the benefits that I have personally experienced from giving lemon water a try. I typically try to go through 3-4 lemons a day, so stock up when they are on sale!

Happy Wednesday!

{wedding season}

With what I hope to be the last of the winter behind us (it is Spring after all)...it is time to start thinking about all of the upcoming festivities this Spring and Summer. Across two months, I will be traveling to Charleston, Savannah, attending 5 weddings and a few showers sprinkled in between. That's a whole lot of dresses. A whole lot. Here are a few favorites I'm lusting after this spring.
I love the vibrancy of this Elizabeth and James Helma Dress. I have broader shoulders so a one-shoulder neckline typically seems to work well. All it needs is a pair of fantastic earrings and you're done!

Besides the obvious fantastic color...I think this Equipment dress could be worn on so many occasions. My ONLY hang up is that in the description it mentions "unlined". Have any of ya'll ordered it? Is a slip a must? I loathe a slip.

Rebecca Taylor Ruffle Dress

The back of this T By Alexander Wang dress is everything and more. I love nothing more than a dress that looks simple on the front and is a complete stunner in the back. This dress may be welcomed into my closet very soon...

This is a win all around. Amazing price, structured and Summer ready. Yes, please!

weekend recap

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Half of ours was spent enjoying the gorgeous weather and the other half was spent watching lots of movies indoors due to rain. Lots of relaxing all around.

Lots of sunshine!

I also did a little shopping on Saturday morning and picked up this Alice & Trixie blouse. It is great paired with white jeans and I think will see a lot of wear this Spring and Summer.Displaying photo.JPG

Sunday we took the pup for a long stroll around the lake and enjoyed before the rain came.Displaying photo 3.JPG

I also may be really behind the times just now using the waterlogue app, but ya'll its so much fun! Here was an experiment.

{weekly roundup}

Considering its been one of those weeks where I woke up this morning and thought it was Friday (wishful thinking) I figured I would go ahead and do my Friday post. It's been awhile since I shared a week's worth of links. So, here goes. Also, happy (day early) Friday! Oh, and happy first day of Spring!

1} I absolutely loved this article that was featured by Mackenzie Horan earlier this week. I love reading about women my age that really take the reigns on their career and aren't afraid to do their own thing. I'm right behind you girlfriend.

2} This, well this is just hysterical. If you're in need of a good laugh, here you go. And you don't even have to be a "cat lady" to find it hilarious.

3} I need this jacket for so many reasons. While the days may be warming up, the evenings are still cool and I think it would be perfect for nights out.

4} As a girl who used to live in fear of decorating with lots of color, I can entirely relate to this article in Domino this week. I love her approach to adding color into an otherwise neutral obsessed home. I'm slowly but surely working to add more color into the design of our home!

5} This tray is great for more reasons than I can even count. Target genius if you will. It is perfect for the end of a chaise, carrying drinks while entertaining, or resting on a guest bed with trinkets for your out-of-towners.

6} I also recently became obsessed with Tumblr. Some may call it a "time suck" but I find it a great outlet for creativity when your days are "feeling gray" as I put it. I love getting my creative juices flowing while browsing some truly gorgeous photos. Here's what I've worked on so far.

7}I came across this local artist first on Instagram, and adore her Etsy shop. Her pieces are so much fun and for custom artwork you seriously cannot beat the prices! Love coming across awesome artists in Raleigh.

8}Have you filled out the Garden & Gun best southern towns bracket yet? Here ya go. Of course my favorite three towns are listed (and winning!) Wilmington, Charleston & Savannah. Speaking of which, Savannah at the end of April. What do we do? Where do we eat? First wedding anniversary trip :)

Well, that's it folks. Have a great (hopefully warm where you are) weekend!

favorite sandals for spring

I am currently coveting camel colored sandals for spring. I picture them paired perfectly with a pair of white matchstick denim and (of course) a cajun shrimp toe. Here are some I have my eye on for Spring!

I first saw these on Natalie's blog Designer Bags and Dirty Diapers and immediately knew I had to have them! They look adorable on and have loads of versatility.

drool worthy kitchens {someday}

With Spring starting this week, I have begun my "spring cleaning" purge in an effort to make our move out of our little place easier (who knew you could collect so much in just a year!?). No, we aren't moving right now, but we are hoping to buy a bungalow of our own sometime in the near future. As we scour listings nearly each night, I automatically begin dreaming of my perfect kitchen (someday). However, the most important aspect of all to me, is a wide open space. Regardless of design, it is a must for me to have an open feel to entertain and be with our (someday) children.

I cannot get enough of these kitchens and the unique touches that gives each its own flair. As if you couldn't tell by the pictures below...a white kitchen is a must in my book (someday).

spring lust list

With the near 80 (!!!) degree temperatures we have had this week, it has my mind on nothing but spring. Living in North Carolina, we can have pretty finicky seasons where it goes from winter to 90 degree summer days and you literally didn't blink an eye. With that said, I am stocking up my wardrobe for spring and am loving these items.
Schutz Sandals
Shopbop

Free People Shorts

Cheers to Chic Tunic (available in Peacoat, Cotton Candy, Green, or Yellow)
As we will be attending five separate weddings this year, I think this dress from Sail to Sable would be great for the various bridesmaids brunches, showers, etc.

{lately}

I will preface this by saying it will be a heavy picture post. Here's a little recap of our life lately via Instagram and beyond.

I found this complete project on Etsy, but wasnt fond of the $80+ price tag. So I took the monogram we used for our Christmas tree topper, painted it a glossy white and ordered a dried boxwood wreath. Ta-da. Welcome home. And for $40 total (including spray paint and ribbon!)

If you know me personally, you know that I probably have the straightest hair in the history of America. Ya'll, for it it hold a curl for one hour let alone all night is a true miracle.  I picked up this clipless curling iron recently and immediately trashed my traditional curling iron right then and there. A selfie was quite necessary to capture the true accomplishment of this tool (pardon the smirk)

The best part? The curls lasted just like that through the next morning. Bed head and all.

We also spent the weekend celebrating my father-in-laws birthday at Coquette with family and friends. Per usual, my meal exceeded my wildest expectations. I also tried their version of the St. Germaine and Champagne cocktail called the "Le Fleur." Local peoples: get it.

Sunday was spent mostly outdoors enjoying the 75 degree sunshine. Yes, only in North Carolina can you lay out one day and leave work early for snow/ice the next!
