Life As of Late

Man how this week has flown. Before I knew it, Friday had crept up on me.  Life just gets busy. In my last post I mentioned about my weekend plans.  Last weekend was all sorts of refreshing. Maybe that is why the past week flew by so fast.

Last Friday, I took a day away from the office and scooted down south for some much needed sun (I got a little more than I should have) I was back home at the coast by noon where mom and I spent a few hours relaxing on the beach and catching up.  What's really better than an ice cold Corona at 1'oclock on a Friday? That night we cooked a fabulous recipe we found from Coastal Living. Yellowfin Tuna and Mango Kabobs with Mango Salsa and Jasmine Coconut Lime Rice.  It really was as good as it sounds.

Saturday, we made a trip to Greenville to visit with close friends for a very special baby shower. Jennifer, the mama-t0-be's sister, arranged the shower and it was absolutely adorable! It was a baby animal themed, with "mama" and "baby" stuffed animals and animal themed treats. Precious.  It was such a special day and great to see everyone.

All tuckered out from the excitment...

As you can tell by a majority of my pictures, I am a fan of Instagram. Are we friends on Instagram? My username is kathrynanne7

Have a great Saturday!

Weekend Plans

So this evening kicks off the start of my long weekend and I could truly not be any more excited.  I have yet to return home to the coast since Christmas. Crazy huh?! I am departing DC tomorrow en route to the south to make it home in time for a lunch on the beach with my sweet mom. I’ve missed her. Not to mention tomorrow’s forecast boasts 84 degrees and Sunny skies in Wilmington. YES. This bod could use some sun. It’s beyond overdue to spend some girl time just relaxing and of course wedding planning too.
Early Saturday morning we will be heading to Greenville, NC to a very dear friend of mine and bridesmaid’s baby shower.  She is probably the cutest pregnant person I have ever seen in my entire life and I can only hope to be that adorable and not an enormous whale when my time comes. I am so excited to celebrate the upcoming  birth of “Crew” (LOVE his name) and catch up with old friends.
I cannot wait to enjoy a long weekend filled with girl time!
Happy Weekending!

Be Sweet To Your Feet!

With Spring officially poking its head around the corner in DC, it is now time to shift my focus from stuffy boots and my trusty Uggs to fun sandals that allow my piggies soak up the sun. I have found some great sandals and summer shoes at fabulous prices. Here are a few of my most recent purchases that I am so excited to be wearing for Spring!

Love these little throw ons from Zara and at under $30, they are perfect with the budget! (That awful "b word" that the fiance tells me is important)

These flats are by "City Slips." They are perfect for the "city commuter" and since I walk to the office each day, they are the perfect pedicure saver from lugging around to and from the office in pumps. I scored them from Neiman Marcus Last Call and if you too love them, you can score them for $15 and free shipping right now. They have multiple styles and colors! I also adore the little pouch they come with to
always have as a backup in my purse!

I thought these were the perfect "casual Friday" shoe for the office or brunch on the weekend shoe. I adore a cute smoking slipper, and while I LOVE my needlepoint pair, a 20 something working girl can only afford so much. At $20 plus shipping, these were the perfect alternative and the price again, unbeatable. Thank you Tar-jay!

Do you have any budget friendly Spring finds?

Closet Cooking

Moving from Raleigh, North Carolina to DC, one of the sacrifices I made for city living was my kitchen size. And boy did I downsize. My previous kitchen island was a glorious, enormous slab of granite that I could spread out all of my cooking supplies and really go to work. Our new home in DC, not so much. I guess they really had no use for a huge kitchen in the 1800's? Who knew.

Upon moving here, I stumbled across an incredible site called "Closet Cooking" Cooking in a closet sized kitchen. This really resonated with me, as it is a site FILLED with incredible recipes that you are able to make in your tiny kitchen space! Kevin, the owner of the site is lovely and allowed me to feature a few of my favorite recipes from his site on mine.

A favorite classic and the first recipe I made from Closet Cooking was this delicious chicken pot pie. Here's the recipe.
Roasted Heirloom Tomatoes in Fontina Cheese. YUM. It the perfect match for an appetizer whether you are heading to a potluck dinner or having a few friends over for drinks and want something easy. Here's the recipe.
These are an all time favorite of the fiance's. Blueberry Cheesecake Pancakes.  Three of my favorite words. These are an absolutely delicious indulgence, and after a long week, I can't think of anything more perfect on a Sunday morning. Here's the recipe.

Whether your kitchen is the postage stamp size that ours is, or huge, you'll do yourself a favor to check out Closet Cooking. Amazing, unique recipes you are sure to love! Many thanks to Kevin for allowing me to share his amazing site!

Happy Cooking!

Everybody loves a good deal...

The words "Kate Spade" and "sale" are words in my vocabulary I find very difficult to ignore. So naturally, upon receiving the Kate Spade sample sale email that select items were up to 75% off, I made sure to allow some time in my day for a little retail therapy. I indulged in a couple items that I knew would get great use...

I received this exact set from the fiance from Christmas and couldn't get enough of it. I recommend to anyone looking for a fresh and fun scent for Spring.

These are perfect everyday earrings, whether you are wearing them to the office or romping around in yoga pants, they add a touch of "girly" to whatever your wardrobe choice may be!

A few other drool worthy non-sale (bummer) Kate Spade items that I would just love to add to my closet would be...

Love this option for my bridal shower or even rehearsal dinner...

Honestly though, there probably is not anything that I don't love Kate Spade...you should head over to their site soon, the sample sale ends tomorrow!
