{weekend getaway}

Yes, I realize it is only Tuesday and here I am talking about the weekend. Always happens. Anyway, this weekend we are packing up and heading to the mountains for a cozy weekend in with friends (and maybe a little skiing if Austin can drag me). I scooped up some travel essentials recently that I look forward to using on our little weekend away.

You may remember me speaking about these little cozies a few weeks ago. I'm glad I got them from J. Crew when I did because they went fast! They were totally worth the mini splurge.

I haven't worn a cap in who knows how long, but the price on this J. Crew one was totally unbeatable. It will be perfect for any outdoor adventuring we may do.

Santa brought hubby and I our very own Hartmann luggage set. I guess it means we are adults now that we have matching luggage? They still have the large one for sale here at a great price!

We got this for many reasons. For one, its a glorious thing to not have a car full of golden retriever hair. Second, it protects the leather seats in my new car as well as just keeps her calm during long trips. We've used it once already and Bailey really seems to love it. Keeps the girl cozy :)

I haven't quite decided if living walking distance from a Total Wine is dangerous, but I really do love this wine. The price point is under $15 which I love, so I'll be bringing a few of these with me to share!

Crate & Barrel / CB2 Lust List

With the start of a new year, it has given me the itch to give our living space a little bit of a facelift. I recently DIY'ed the Vittsjo nesting tables from IKEA from black to gold which I really love. I'll post it soon, I just got too eager and never took any before photos. Anyway, I digress. I would describe my style as mostly basic neutrals with pops of color when I can commit to them.  These pieces I love, and at Crate & Barrel prices, they won't break the bank.

I will say, I don't think I have a single spec of pink in our home. However, I think the mixture of designs and black and gold tied in would be acceptable to the man of the house :)

Style Crush : India Hicks

I have a serious girl crush on India Hicks. She is the daughter of interior designer David Hicks and Lady Pamela Mountbatten and possesses the grace of the royal that she is, but also has such a laid back relaxed vibe to her. I cannot get enough. Her style, design, motherhood and philanthropy is enough to make anyone fall in love with her.

I absolutely adore her crisp coastal boho style that still has such a warm and welcoming feel.

I also love her tips {here} on how to add island flair to any home, even if you don't live on Harbour Island.

You do you, girl. Love it.

See Ya 2013!

2013 was an incredible year, for many reasons. We moved back to the south, I landed a job I love, I married my sweet Austin, and list goes on...Needless to say, 2013 was a good year to me. While still very fast paced, it is somewhat of a blur, all of which I am so thankful for. I am also so thankful for all of you that read this little ole' blog! I am so excited to see what 2014 holds, and cannot wait to ring in the new year with our friends.

back to reality...

Today is my first day back to work in over a week and I must say it sure was tough to get out of bed this morning. Am I the only one that struggles to get out of bed in time on work days, but Saturday and Sunday am up and at it at 7am? Bizarre. I do enjoy having my daily routine but it will be a tough adjustment getting back into the swing of things.

I am looking forward to tomorrow evening. We are having another couple over for drinks before we head out for NYE celebrations at Oro. I went there for dinner with a few girlfriends the other night and the truffle macaroni and cheese made me need to come back for more.

After Christmas Sale

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I'm finally sitting down to catch my breath from all of the festivities that have taken place in the past week. So much fun to see family and friends that we don't get to see often. With a little down time, of course I'm browsing the sales online and I swear they are even better than the Black Friday sales! Santa brought me a slew (8+) of blue & white jars which I am so excited to begin using (I think Santa must read my blog or something). Which gives me an awesome excuse for lots and lots of fresh flowers! I got started this past week with fresh peonies in December! Gotta love Whole Foods.
